Located 72 km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram,
Kollam is the center of the country's cashew trading and processing
industry. One of the oldest ports on the Malabar Coast, Kollam
was once the port of international spice trade. 30% of this
historic town is covered by the renowned Ashtamudi Lake making
it the gateway to the magnificent backwaters of Kerala. Places

Locked between lakes Vembanad, Punnamada,
Ashtamudi and Kayankulam, Alleppey stands at the crossroads

along the western coast, it preceded Kochi as the Queen

The Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary,
One of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries,
covers an area of 750 sq.Kms on the hills of Western ghats.
Thekkady is noted for its geomorphology, wildlife and scenic
beauty. The Periyar Tiger Reserve attracts travelers from all
over the world. Animals like Wild Boar, Elephants, Bisons are
found here. The forest department & the KTDC conduct boat
trips in the lake. |
Ensconsed between the paddy fields of Kuttanad
and the majestic lake of Vembanad. Kumarakom today is home
of hundreds of migratory birds and a 14 acre bird sanctuary

These water falls are a place of
great scenic beauty near the enterence of the Sholayar ranges,
30 Kms from Chalakkudy. Athirappally water falls is of 80 feet
height. The Vazhachal water falls is only 5 kms away from the
Athirappally falls.There are water theme parks, on the way to
