KOLLAM

Located 72 km to the north of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam is the center of the country's cashew trading and processing industry. One of the oldest ports on the Malabar Coast, Kollam was once the port of international spice trade. 30% of this historic town is covered by the renowned Ashtamudi Lake making it the gateway to the magnificent backwaters of Kerala. Places like Thangassery, Thenmala, Palaruvi Waterfalls etc. Attracts lot of tourists.

ALLEPPEY

 

Locked between lakes Vembanad, Punnamada, Ashtamudi and Kayankulam, Alleppey stands at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. One of the oldest trading centers along the western coast, it preceded Kochi as the Queen of the Arabian Sea. Connected by an intricate network of canals and roads which intersect one another to form a grid. Today it is the base of back water tour. Boat race at Alleppey is world famous.


 

COCHIN (KOCHI)

Queen of The Arabian Sea, and the commercial capital of Kerala, and the most cosmopolitan of the state's cities. It has a fascinating blend of culture.One of the finest natural harbours in the world is located here. Sightseeing : Fort Kochi, Dutch Palace, Jewish Synagogue, Parikshit Thampuram Museum, Hill Palace Museum, Chinese Fishing nets, Bolgatty island, Chottanikkara Temple and various old Churches.

MUNNAR

 

Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams, this commercial center of some of the world's highest tea growing estates is at a dizzying 1524 m. Anamudi, south India highest peak, at 2965 m is visible from many places in Munnar. The pepper, rubber and cardamom plantations lend a distinct aroma to the cool climate. The Mattupetti dam, Indo-Swiss Project, Echo Point, Top Station, Rajamalai, Devikulam, Iravikulam & Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuaries, are the main attractions.


 

THEKKADY

The Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary, One of the world's most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries, covers an area of 750 sq.Kms on the hills of Western ghats. Thekkady is noted for its geomorphology, wildlife and scenic beauty. The Periyar Tiger Reserve attracts travelers from all over the world. Animals like Wild Boar, Elephants, Bisons are found here. The forest department & the KTDC conduct boat trips in the lake.

KUMARAKOM

 

Ensconsed between the paddy fields of Kuttanad and the majestic lake of Vembanad. Kumarakom today is home of hundreds of migratory birds and a 14 acre bird sanctuary adds to the natural beauty of Kumarakom. Birds such as Water ducks, Cuckoos, Siberian Storkes, make Kumarakom their peaceful home. A cruise, in a houseboat on the backwater, along the banks of Kumarakom, is an unforgettable experiance.


 

ATHIRAMPALLY & VAZHACHAL

These water falls are a place of great scenic beauty near the enterence of the Sholayar ranges, 30 Kms from Chalakkudy. Athirappally water falls is of 80 feet height. The Vazhachal water falls is only 5 kms away from the Athirappally falls.There are water theme parks, on the way to these beautiful falls. Where young ones can have lot of fun, along with their elders.
